Introducing the
New ALPS No Spin Pinning System
For Aluminum Trolling Butts
There are many brands of high quality aluminum trolling butts on the market today. Almost all aluminum butts are designed with the bottom gimbal and the front reel seat retainer pressed together and glued in place. While this system of manufacturing produces a decent quality trolling butt, anglers have been plagued for years with gimbals and front reel seat retainers breaking loose and spinning during fishing situations. While the gimbals are in rod holders, they and the reel seat front retainers are subjected to significant twist and torque. This twisting has caused failures with all brands of trolling butts for years.
The design engineers at Batson Enterprises and ALPS have jointly developed a new design and manufacturing technique to completely eliminate this problem. We call it the “ALPS No Spin Pinning System.” Now, during the manufacturing process, a pin is added in both the gimbal and reel seat front retainer. This pin, along with a precision machined channel for the pin, and the original knurling and gluing have once and for all eliminated this age old problem of gimbals and retainers breaking loose. This is just another example of the design team at Batson Enterprises and ALPS working together to provide the fishing industry the finest rod building components in the world.
