Mike Thorson
Product Manager / Design Team Leader
A fishing fanatic from the time he caught his first Blue Gill as a young
boy, Mike has grown to be one of the industry’s most recognizable
designers. Mike has been involved in the fishing industry for over 33
years. He spent time in all aspects of the business including retail,
wholesale, manufacturing, sales and product development. He has participated
in many tournaments over the years, is a certified fly casting instructor
and a multi-species angling expert. Mike’s wealth of knowledge and
experience provides the anchor for the Batson Enterprises™ design
team.
Bill Batson
CEO Batson Enterprises™, Inc.
Bill is what you call a hands on CEO. Unlike other companies where the
CEO plays golf, Bill is a very passionate custom rod builder and fisherman.
From his days as a young man growing up in Hawaii and helping his father
build custom rods until today, Bill’s favorite pastime has been
building custom rods, or chasing whatever is biting. He has fished from
the time he was big enough to hold a rod until today. Bill has over 20
years experience in the fishing industry and his last twelve years has
been directly involved in the wholesale component business.
Karry Batson
Sales / Product Development
Two terms come to mind when describing Karry, “Fishaholic”
& “Rodaholic”. Karry spent five years guiding in Alaska
for Salmon, Steelhead & Trout. He built his first custom rod at age
15. Over the years Karry has built countless custom rods himself! “The
guy with gills” is how we describe Karry around Batson Enterprises™,
Inc. In an average year Karry is on the water no fewer than 125 days.
He is an expert rod builder, accomplished fly caster and multi-species
angling expert.
Adam Hansen
Sales / Product Development
Adam is the newest addition to the Batson sales team. Prior to being promoted
to sales, Adam was responsible for blank inspection / quality control
& freight / order processing. He knows our blanks and parts like the
back of his hand. Adam started fishing when he was big enough to hold
a rod, and has never stopped since. In the last couple of years Adam has
become quite a rod builder, building in excess of 100 rods for family,
friends and customers. When not fishing Adam enjoys hunting water-fowl,
blacktail deer and elk any chance he gets.
Other Contributors To The Design Of Batson Product Line Up
The Batson design team also works very closely with an extensive network
of industry experts who provide valuable input on various blank and components
designs we offer. We recognize that it is impossible to have all the answers
and truly value input from our dealers, pro staff members, and end users.
We are also very fortunate to be aligned with vendors who have some of
the finest engineers the world has to offer in terms of blank and component
design and manufacturing. We regularly travel abroad to meet with the
various engineering teams and combine talents to offer our customer base
the very finest products from a design and performance standpoint
